What a fun time this year. You really missed a good one if you were not in Old Washington, Kentucky, for this years Kenton Kin meeting.
Suzie Pratt did an outstanding job in setting up the programs and was liaison person between us Kentons and the organizers of the Old Washington Activities. What about those really BIG Oxen and the really nice carriage rides pulled by horses this year? Our Kenton Kin meeting was well attended, plus we had a ceremony that involved making Principal Chief, GARY HUNT of the Shawnee Indian group, an “Honorary Kenton Kin”. Gary is always with us to help promote the Kentons, & shows much respect for us as we do the same toward he and his Indians. We were all moved by this ceremony.
MARK SAGE gave a great talk regarding the Daniel Boone of the movies and TV - compared to the real life Daniel Boone, we were so happy he brought his lovely wife this year.
Principal Chief, GARY HUNT OF THE SHAWNEE INDIANS spoke about his customs and interesting facts at our meeting as well. It was nice to welcome back his wife, GLORIA again and she was busy taking care of their grandosn, ETHEN HUNT age 6. This was his first visit and we look forward to his return again.
Hope you didn’t miss our grandfather of four times removed, MEL HANKLA. We love having this talented man (also an “Honorary Kenton”) return each year and do his thing. It just keeps getting better and we always watch to see if we can spot the change he makes in each of his programs . He is always a professional and a beloved friend and member of us Kentons.
We had a wonderful surprise this year in the form of WAYNE DROUILLARD. Yes, of the Pierre and George Drouillard line. He visited us from his home in California and we sure welcomed him. He says he had such a good time, he will be with us next September so mark you calendars now for a great time next year.
We thank the Dulcimer Club for their lovely music and all the vendors and shopkeepers for the good food and fun time- Be sure and join us in 2010 for it promises to be a really great time again. Remember- Our latch string is always out to you.
